If your digital has been dropped, leaving the lens inoperable, remove the batteries & discontinue trying to operate the camera. Further operation, may case increased damage to inner parts. Quite often when dropped the lens barrels become miss aligned with interior parts. Disassembly is required to re-align all rollers gears & barrel slides.
